Our Motivation

As the representatives of Christ on this campus, we desire to visibly demonstrate the love of Christ through Purdue Christian organizations by enjoying Christian fellowship, serving the community, and worshipping God together.

These desires are motivated by a strong conviction of certain truths about ourselves and the God we serve. Thus, in order to ensure a unity of purpose among those involved in FaithWorks at Purdue, we present the following Statement of Faith, which embodies the truths upon which we will unite.

As the organizations representing Christ through Purdue FaithWorks, we affirm the following...

1. The Bible

The Bible is the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:21).

2. God

There is one God who is eternally co-existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 8:6).

3. Jesus Christ

The deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, his virgin birth, his sinless life, his miracles, his vicarious and atoning death through his shed blood, his bodily resurrection, his ascension to the right hand of the Father, and his personal return in power and glory (Matthew 1:20-23; John 1:14; Acts 1:11; Romans 9:5; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Titus 2:13; Hebrews 4:15; 12:2; 1 Peter 2:24; 3:18).

4. Salvation

Salvation has been provided through Jesus Christ alone for all people and those who repent and believe in Him are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become children of God (John 1:12-13; 10:28,29; Romans 8:38,39; 10:9-13; Ephesians 1:13,14; 1 John 5:12-13).

5. Holy Spirit

The present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life and is empowered for effective service (John 16:8; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 12,13).

6. Resurrection

There shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust; for the former, a resurrection unto life; for the latter, a resurrection unto judgment (John 5:28,29; 1 Corinthians 15:20-28; Revelation 20:11-15).

7. Unity

The spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (John 17:20-23; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 4:1-6).
